Irish Four Seasons

About

A three-work programme where the rich heritage of traditional Irish music meets Baroque tradition and classical form.

The programme pairs a beloved classic with two striking new works. Vivaldi's Four Seasons remains one of the most cherished pieces in the repertoire, drawing audiences in with its instantly recognisable brilliance.

But it is Ailbhe McDonagh's Irish Four Seasons and her new Cello Concerto No. 1 that consistently deliver the evening's biggest surprises. Performed by violinist Lynda O'Connor, the Anamus chamber ensemble, and McDonagh herself as cello soloist, the programme has been met with enthusiastic audiences and critical acclaim at venues across Ireland and Europe, offering listeners a compelling dialogue between classical tradition and contemporary Irish voice.
